Considering the technology development and potential upgrade, in this article we will briefly explain the setup details of a popular semi automatic painting line system which is applicable for many cases, especially when there’s flexible painting requirement and limited by workshop area space.
What’s Included From Semi Automatic Paint System?
A popular semi automatic paint line system generally consists of one set spray booth, one set robotic sprayer plus one set curing furnace.

Spray booth – Either dry or water curtain filter, its a must item for any spray system. A typical spray booth setup is fully stainless steel construction for durable long time operation. Proper illumination and waste air exhaust are necessary to maintain the operation area clean as well as operator protection.
Depends on the object size to paint in spray booth, there might be two stage and three side water curtains if it’s wet construction. The purpose is to collect overspray as much as possible and reduce the exhaust pressure. RPG production will provide vortex type construction and sub filtration for optional choice. After sub filtration unit, the waste percentage can reduce up to 90% in exhaust, thus reduced the waste treatment work for eco-friendly.
Robotic sprayer – The core unit to ensure high quality painting. No matter how the final setup is, a robotic sprayer will always repeat the same way once the program is well configured. Back to the sprayer which can be deeply tailored by onsite conitions, RPG available options are 1~6 axis spray painting machine and armed robot for painting purpose. We will configure paint supply and piping in advance with machine.
For some special cases we will also program fluid controller for precise paint volume regulation. Available solutions such as IWATA/DEVILBISS/WAGNER/GRACO can be easily programmed with our system. We ensure every piece in our sprayer will be genuine production with guaranteed performance.
Curing furnace – Common but a hard part of the entire painting system. A perfect curing furnace must be durable & ease of use with stable temperature curve according to drying requirements. There’re options for cabinet type batch oven and belt conveyor type tunnel oven as per production needs.
When there’s quite long curing time like PU based coatings, we normally have to use cabinet type oven for higher efficiency and less costs. The painted pieces will be drying inside a sealed environment so the general energy consumption is low and energy efficiency will be high. But if its quick dry coating such as UV, a tunnel oven is a must for easier application.
Moreover, a dedicated cleaning booth is suggested if product surface requirement is high. A cleaning booth is configured the same way as spray booth but with a operation station for electrostatic blowing. Electrostatic cleaning is proved the best choice for most products either plastic or metallic. For those high end painting products like electronics, a tiny dust particle will be seen after paint spray and will be hard to remove, electrostatic cleaning will solve this problem easily.
Last but not least, a clean room construction would be necessary to meet with high end spray requirements. Clean room environment can greatly improve the fine rate. Especially when we move to full automatic painting system in future, clean room is a must for guaranteed performance. Most quality problems can be easily fixed under clean room operation.
